Why Wal-Mart is the Best Place to Shop
Wal-Mart is the best place to shop because they carry many merchandise and products that you can use. They have products that come from Proctor and Gamble one of the other companies that I will be talking about. Wal-Mart has a range of different products and merchandise that is suitable for all ages. Wal-mart is a store that is open to all the public, (http://www.walmart.com). They have 1,700,000 employees and have many different stores located at many different places all over the United States and all over different countries-like China. They have had 13.3% growth rate in the past year. Wal-Mart is the worlds’ #1 retailer, with about 6,400 stores, including some 1,200 discount stores, 2,000 combination discount and grocery stores and 565 warehouse stores. Nearly two-thirds of its stores are in the U.S. but Wal-Mart is expanding internationally; it is the # 1 retailer in Canada and Mexico. It owns a majority stake in Japanese retailer SEIYU. Wal-Mart also has operations in Asia, Europe, and South America. Founder of Sam Walton’s heirs own about 40% of Wal-Mart, (http://www.answers.com/wal-mart).

Even though Wal-Mart is a thriving company it still has it flaws and some down falls. For example when Wal-Mart started it was an all male corporation until the owner decided that he should bring in a girl into the all male corporation. Walton, the owner found himself asking Arkansas first’s lady, Hilary Clinton, who later found herself quoting Walton pitch, “I think I need a woman, would you like to be her?”(Hilary Clinton). In 2000 a female employee found herself denied a promotion so she filed a sex-discrimination lawsuit against Wal-Mart, (www.corpwatch.org). The major business group into which the company is divided is Sam’s Club and Wal-Mart Super Centers.
Procter & Gamble Some of the Best Products
The second company I chose is Proctor & Gamble. Proctor & Gamble (P&G) is a brand behemoth. Proctor & Gamble is one of the world’s Number 1 maker of household products, court market share and billion-dollar brands.P&G’s business is divided into three global units: beauty and health, household care; and Gillette. P&G also makes pet food and water filters and produces soap operas (As the World Turns). P&G has more than 20% of P&G’s brands are billion-dollar sellers( including Actonel, Always/Whisper, Bounty, Charmin, Crest, Downy/Lenor, Folgers, Iams, Olay, Pampers, Pantene, Pringles, Tide and Wella).Acquisitive P&G bought Clairol in 2001 and a majority of Wella in 2003.
