Acer Case
Acer was originally known as Multitech, it was founded in Taiwan in 1976 by Shih, his wife, and three friends. Multitech’s grand mission was “to promote the application of the emerging microprocessor technology. Without big resources like American and Japanese company had, they foucus on the smaller market, but the combination of many small markets is not small, they become bigger and bigger. Expansion abroad—primarily through Asia, Middle East and Latin America—was greatly helped by a growing number of new products. In 1983, Multitech began to manufacture IBM-compatible PCs, and in 1984 sales reached $51 million. 1986, Shih emphasized the need to identify potential overseas acquisitions, set up offshore companies, and at this year, Acer became the second company in the world to develop and launch a 32-bit PC, even beating IBM to market.
