Have you ever thought about adopting a child? Adoption is a controversial topic some believe that adoption is an exceptional while others disagree. Everyone should choose adoption because it can provide a home for orphans or complete a family for those who are unable to have children on their own. In the contrary, there are some who believe adoption is not a good idea because there are bad motives behind it such as money or abuse. Adoption is a great idea thus everyone should adopt.
Adoption is an excellent choice because it provides a home for orphans. There are over 126,000 children who are currently waiting to be adopted in the United States. Adoption provides children with a warm and safe environment. For some children when they are adopted they are able to have their own room and a soft bed to lie in. When these orphans are in the shelters and foster homes they are often cohabitating with so many others that the warm and loving environment is not present. There are many successful stories behind adoption some say it’s the best thing for certain children providing them with a better life and path to success.
Infertility is an issue amongst 11 % of women of childbearing age according to CBS. Adoption provides a solution for women who are unable to have children of their own. Women who are unable to bear children are still able to have a child of their own. It provides a woman with a sense of pride and joy of having her own child. It also fulfills the hunger and want of having a child, most women who have experienced numerous miscarriages and countless times of trying to conceive are able to fill that void with adoption.
Adoption is very prevalent in the gay and lesbian community. Gay and lesbian couples do not have the ability to conceive thus adoption is one of the few options they have to expand their family. Although lesbian couples could undergo fertility treatments, and an insemination process, adoption is a better choice because it is inexpensive in comparison to those treatments. Moreover, males are unable to conceive thus a gay couple would only be able to adopt or hire a surrogate to carry their child. The cost for a surrogate tremendously exceeds the cost for adoption thus adoption is a better choice. Also a surrogate could change her mind and not want to go through with the process, which could leave the couple devastated. Adoption is a great choice for gay and lesbian couples seeking to expand their families.
Adoption is a great option for heterosexual couples looking to expand their families. Couples that have older children may be interested in expanding their family but are not interested in caring for a baby thus they may want to adopt an older child. Also a couple may want to have a sibling for a child they already have. They are also able to choose the sex of the child they want to adopt. If a couple has three boys of their own they may want to adopt a girl instead of risking the chance of birthing another boy.
Adoption is a great idea when the child is related to the adoptive parents. There are many family members that adopt members of their own family. Some of those reasons include death of a parent, financial reasons, abuse or prison. Adoption of a family member is great because it keeps the child with his or her own family. It also keeps the child in a familiar environment and allows him to continue important family relationships. The child will respond better to the adoption, as well because the adoptee is someone they know
Adoption is also great if it is someone that the child has bonded with. A bond could be between a family friend, nurse, counselor, schoolteacher or others. Someone that the child has a bond with can make the child more comfortable with the adoption as well. It can provide a warmer environment for the child if they are with someone they know versus having to live with a complete stranger. Adoption can be a hard adjustment but having a prior relationship with the person helps with that transition.
Population control is a big issue in numerous countries. Adoption can help regulate the population. Instead of procreating people should adopt. Adoption creates a small barrier for population outburst. Although it would not make a vast improvement in the population it provides some assistance. In some countries such as China they have developed the “one child” rule although it has failed adoption would help with this rule because parents would be able to conceive their one child and be able to adopt if they wanted more.
Adoption is also a noble choice for those who love children in general. There are many who love having big families such as Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie whom have adopted several children. The have three adopted children, three biological children and are currently expecting their seventh child. . Many enjoy having big families and instead of having to birth ten to fifteen kids they are able to enjoy a big family by choosing adoption.
