Airline Leasing Opportunities
Product
The current airplane leasing model is archaic and outdated. These airplanes cost a lot of money and financing is notorious to get by. Airplane manufacturers have always sold planes but never involved in the leasing business of their new aircraft. They have relied on other lenders to buy their aircraft and in turn lease them to airlines.
My suggestion is airlines should not always rely on financing markets to lease their aircraft. They should also experiment with crowd funding the lease of their airplane. They can invite their regular passengers to choose and fund which model of aircraft the passengers would like the airline to lease. While this cannot be done for every aircraft the airline leases, this can be an excellent publicity campaign and also allows the passengers to feel they are part of the airline’s decision making policy.
Customers
The customers for this business model are frequent fliers. They fly a certain route every week and would take pride in flying in an aircraft that they have contributed to.
Company
The company can open this opportunity to frequent fliers and tout this as one of the benefits of being a frequent flier. The company can also introduce tiered contributions by frequent fliers to it’s decision making process.
Competitors
The competitors to this business model are other airlines flying out of the same hub. Since this strategy is mostly apt to airlines operating from their hub i.e. Alaska flying out of Seattle, it would be hard for the competitors to replicate i.e. Delta flying out of Seattle. Collaborators
