What Wallace line?

Alfred Russel Wallace was trained as a surveyor and an architect. A surveyor is a person who finds the measurement of dimensional relationships, as of horizontal distances, elevations, directions, and angles, on the earth’s surface especially for use in locating property boundaries, construction layout, and mapmaking. An architect is a person who designs and supervises the construction of buildings or other large structures. Wallace created what is called the Wallace line. The Wallace line is a boundary running between the islands of the Malay Archipelago, between the oriental and Australasian faunal regions, many animals abundant on one side being absent on the other. Wallace seemed to stand up for what he believed and did something about it. He supported socialism, pacifism, land nationalization, and women's suffrage. His works include Contributions to the Theory of Natural Selection (1870), Geographical Distribution of Animals (1876), and Darwinism (1889).
