An Overview of the Past Year

People change as they get older. They change in several ways: physical appearance, mental fortitude, preferences, and emotional makeup, to name a few. One of the things that seem to be constantly changing is style. From the bell-bottomed pants and mainstream rock of the sixties and seventies, to the tight fitting faded jeans and emerging rap of the late nineties. From war to peace, from wealth to poverty, one's environment effects how they change, too. In the short time of a year I have gone through a few changes myself, while many things have stayed the same.

As one becomes older, especially in their teens, they change very drastically in their physical appearance. I have grown about four inches in the past year and gained a little more than fifteen pounds. My shoulders have become a bit broader and my arms and legs more muscular due to me exercising more frequently. Over the last summer I have obtained a slight tan, and my acne has improved slightly, though I fear that it is on the verge of coming back stronger. But, over the past year I have stayed mostly the same in height and weight range.

As time goes on, what is in style rapidly changes. I don't really keep up with the latest fads, as I am not a mainstream kind of guy. The group of friends a person identifies with is another influence of change. In the past year I have drifted from a pseudo-skater to mostly a rocker. In my freshman year I did not have many friends except the ones that I already had from Middle School and those that I met at parties and the like; now I have a variety of friends ranging from jocks to band freaks.
