Are You an Adult at the Age of 18
“Why are adults from 18 to there late 20’s treated as second-class citizens in this one respect, when in so many others they are expected and required to live up to society's responsibilities?“ There is an on going problem that most people are not aware off. Recently I have turned 18 and I am still seen as a kid. There is not my people who view an 18 as an adult like they would view a 30 year old. However they are both legal adults with most of the same rights.
Furthermore at 18 in America you are supposed to be able to be seen as an adult yet in today’s world you are not. At 18 you can not buy alcohol until you are 21, you can gamble but in most casinos you have to be 21 to get in. When filling out financial aid forms you still have to count your parents income even if you do not live with them.
In the media today young adults are seen portrayed as having bad judgment and acting like teenagers. Most of the time they are shown in college partying and just goofing off. Which happens sometime but not all the time. Most of the time people are not seen as adults in media until they are in there late 20’s early 30’s.
