Characterization Assignment
I quickly put on my faded khaki corduroys, the ones I cut into shorts only a few months before. I pulled my Grateful Dead t-shirt off the top of the clean laundry pile. I scanned my room for a disc man, but my sanctuary looks like Four Seasons during the first month of renovation. Shirts, boxers, and pants lay strewn across the floor; a container of soggy fries from last Friday’s attack of the munchies is displayed cheaply on my dresser. Old papers and magazine are pushed into the corner. I figure as much that I should probably clean up before someone actually sees this mess of a room. I look into the mirror. My hair is knotty as hell. I try to tame the frizzy blond frock with some Suave detangler, but its no use, the curls fall back into the same place. The sweet sound of Hendrix riffs, and Clapton’s slides sooth my teenage soul. It’s almost a crime I wasn’t born in the 60s, classic rock and incredible jam sessions are what I live for.
“Mike, the bus it going to be here in three minutes!” my mom yells.
Her tone implies she’s impatient, and is not in the mood to help me make a decision between the two. I quickly grab Clapton, run down the stairs, and out the door.
The first bell rings, and I’m left making my way to first block. The hustle and bustle of the hallways doesn’t faze me, for my legs sluggishly drag my feet to AP Euro. “Yo dude!” yells Rob as walk pass me in the hall.
“Yo man!”
