Leader’s personality and value system: Coach Boone is well educated, and experienced coach, his method of coaching is a dictatorship style things will be done his way. He is also flexible/adaptive, self-motivating, and encouraging. Coach Yoast is open minded, a good communicator, as well as flexible/adaptive. He also often acts as a supportive figure to the players.

Nature of followers/workers: The players have poor attitudes at first because the white players do not want to play with the black players and are prejudice towards them. The players need to come together as a team if they want to succeed.

Nature of the internal environment: At first the black players and white players do not get along because of the discrimination of black people at that time in the United States.

Nature of the external environment: No other teams have black players, the Titans have to play as a team even though the separation of black and white people at that time.

Immediate Situation: Coach Boone is black and therefore at first is not perceived as a legitimate leader, because of the discrimination of black people at that time in the United States.

Autocratic: Coach Boone exemplifies an autocratic leadership style when he forces every white player to sit beside a black player on the bus and room together at training camp. Coach Boone did this because he is trying to get the black and white players to get to know each other and get along so that they can play as a team.

Democratic: Coach Boone exemplified a democratic leadership style by allowing Coach Yoast to run the defense. Even though Coach Boone gets to make the final decisions he shows trust in Coach Yoast and allows him to have a big part in the decision-making process.
