In the beginning of the story when the woman fined the boy still her bag she says: “Least I can do right now is to wash your face” (Hughes 1). She is trying to tell the boy: even here is no one wants to love you, but you cannot lose yourself that you can love yourself. In the end of this story, the woman says: “I have done things, too, which I could not tell you” (Hughes 3). The woman knows way the boy has bad behavior because she understand him. She wants to tell the boy: everyone done wrong thing, even a person like her. This is the way that the woman uses to help the boy to find the way being batter.
