Dehumanized society in 1984 vs. modern society

 “Power is in tearing human minds to pieces and putting them together again in new shapes of your own choosing.”(Orwell 279) The novel, 1984 written by George Orwell mention that the citizens does not have any rights, privacy or even thinking rebellious thoughts is illegal. Which demonstrates the ruling party dominated society through dehumanization in the novel. The party uses all methods to brainwash and control citizens in various ways. Its depiction of the party uses advanced technology to manipulate and monitor citizens’ daily life and how the law limits member genuine affection.

In 1984 Orwell envisioned a world where the party uses advanced technology to manipulate and monitor citizens’ daily life, and citizens willingly giving up their right to privacy out of fear. In this novel, surveillance is almost everywhere including citizens’ home and must be turn on all the time, the party could monitor citizens through television. Citizen's right to privacy has been taken away, every one of their actions is studied closely. If one is suspected of a "thought-crime," they will suffering from torture and brainwash. Compare to modern society, Closed-circuit television was installed in every public places which is a good way to reduce crime. However,most of Closed-circuit television are monitored by private businesses rather than the government so that the government can not watch through the television when you at home or any privacy place. Lastly, in modern society, the purpose of helicopters is executive transport, search and rescue, and utility, which is no longer to manipulate and monitor citizens’ thought and invasion of privacy and invasion of privacy invasion their privacy. The ruling party dominated society through dehumanization also embodies in the laws. In 1984, the law limits member free thought, sex, and any expression of individuality. If Party members want to marry they must have committee‘s permission, which they cannot have any affection for his/her wife/husband. In china, there is policy named as One-Child Policy. Which implemented by the government in order to control the population. This policy was introduced in 1979 in response to an explosive population growth, and mandated that couples from China's Han majority could only have one child. This was intended to alleviate the social, economic and environmental problems associated with the country's rapidly growing population. (“One-Child Policy”) in addition, The United Kingdom implement Two-child policy, which is a government-imposed limit of two children allowed per family or the payment of government subsidies only to the first two children. Over of all, throughout the novel “1984 “ written by George Orwell. In Orwell envisioned a world where citizens do not have freedom to think, privacy and any expression of individuality. The party uses Closed-circuit television and Helicopters to Surveillance citizens and how the party uses law to limit member’s natural emotion. In conclusion the party manipulate and monitor society through dehumanization.
