Do you agree all employees need supervision?
All employees need supervision. When employee is supervised, he has a sense of commitment towards the goal to be achieved. I agree, with the statement as all of us need supervision no one individual is perfect. We see a lot of real world cases were minimum supervision or no supervision leads to a total disaster. Enron, Tyco, Worldcom the list is endless. Even at an individual level of performance employees improves if there work is checked by someone. In this essay I will discuss the reasons to support why employees need to be supervised.
The first and foremost reason, if an individual is not watched upon then there is no sense of fear to do the right thing, as no one comments or gives feedback of the work that you do. You keep doing the wrong thing and eventually the result will harm more than just you or the company. Enron and Tyco are the perfect example. Even at the highest level of the company, the CEO and CFO used bogus accounting practice, which the board and the stock market was unaware of. If stricter policies were in place like SOX accouting practice by the government, it would have been harder or impossible for this individual to commit frauds and loot peoples money. Even though, the fraudent practices were observed by many individuals combined, the board could have taken necessary steps to avoid the biggest corporate scandal in American history. Government policies and SEC could have identified wrong accounting practices more efficiently, supervising the companies activites. Performance matter at all levels of employement either it be CEO or a common employee.
