Dont Think Twice

You are only a teenager, lost in this world; it is hard enough trying to figure out how to make your way through high school, and fitting in with the right people. This is the stage of our lifes where we make the most mistakes. Being a teenager is not at all easy. You can either find yourself...or lose yourself in the crowd. Sounds hard...well imagine that on top of all that, you are pregnant...In the novel "Don' Think Twice" by Ruth Pennebaker, Anne is sent to a home for pregnant teenagers. It was ironic to find out that sweet, innocent, sensible Anne ended up pregnant. This is common in modern life; how unexpectedly people end up pregnant and ruin their future. In Anne's place on the other hand, they try to "fix" her life, in the best way possible.

Back then around the late 1960's abortion was not leagal, and it was imperative that all unmarried mothers were sent to a home to give their children up for adoption. This as well as other cases, was Anne's case. She had ended up pregnant from her first ever boyfriend, Jake. Many girls make this mistake. The mistake that changes the rest of their lives. Anne, thought that she was in love with Jake, and felt that they would always be together. She would never dare to refuse Jake of anything. Anne had made one of the biggest mistakes of her life...or so she thought.

As time passed by and the day to giving birth got closer and closer, all Anne could think of was, about how her life was a complete mess, and misunderstanding. She blinded herself from the real world and reality. It was bad enough, she thought, that her parents had sent her to that home. Anne felt as if nobody knew or bothered to want to know what she felt; all everyone cared about, was about moving on as if nothing ever happened.
