Onegin

Eugene Onegin is a novel written by Aleksander Pushkin, he contends words is still applies today. Throughout history, people struggle with their conscience on whether or not they should have the ideals and the realities of life. People who choose pursue their dream or follow the reality can influence on making decision in life between of the two characters: Onegin and Tatiana.

Onegin and Tatiana missed their true love because they force to have a realistic life in their society. The failure of Onegin and Tatiana’s love and it seems can predictable. Tatiana was a young lovesick teenager. She deeply felt in love with Onegin and she could not control her soul. Although she knew writing a love letter to a man that was immoral in their society, so she felt dirty and put the ink on her white dress. She braved to write a letter to her beloved on.

On the other hand, Onegin is a noble and Tatiana is a country girl. He worried people gossiped him and Tatiana. He also suffered of depression on that time and he believed the good things will not happen to him. Therefore, he said, ”Love, I am told, heighten a sense, but lessen a perception. I am not someone who was for love, for marriage. Can’t you see what’s the lead is? Declaration,  a kiss, a wedding, a family, obligation, bored, adultery. Is that future?” he rejected her love is not because he did not believe Tatiana’s love. Actually, he was curse himself and foreseen his future. He thought life is boring and lead to adultery finally. If he narrowed his mind and won’t believe that he could have a better future, so who can help him to change his life?
