Forced Heroes
Forced Heroes?
There is a controversy that is causing quite an uproar. People are saying that since other countries require young people to serve in the military, for at least two years, that The United States should too. The United States is one of few countries that don’t require this. But, this is a good thing.
Nobody should be forced into serving in the military. Going into the military should be a person’s choice. No country, including the United States, should be able to force a person into military service. This is especially true for the United States. After all, we do stand on the principal that, “all men are created free and equal”, right?
According to our constitution, it would be “unconstitutional” for any American citizen, to be forced into military service. Only those who want to go to a military branch, such as, army, marines, air force, should have to go. If you feel like you want to enlist that is your choice, and the constitution says you have the right to make that choice. But as stated, it should be a choice.
There are logical reasons behind the idea of forcing people into the military. If a country did not have enough volunteers, then forcing people into military service would seem more morally correct. Another reason would be that some countries leaders just want a big and strong military. But, if the people serving do not want to serve, then they will not be disciplined enough to have a strong military force like the leaders would like to have.
