Short tandem repeat (STR) loci are highly polymorphic polymerase chain reaction-based (PCR-based) genetic markers for characterizing biological material (1-4). In fact, 13 STR loci were selected for use in the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS; 5): CSF1PO, FGA, TH01, TPOX, vWA, D3S1358, D5S818, D7S820, D8S1179, D13S317, D16S539, D18S51, and D21S11. Recently, these 13 STR loci were typed in sample populations of African Americans, U.S. Caucasians, Hispanics, Bahamians, Jamaicans, and Trinidadians, and the results of that analysis were published (6). For practical purposes, traditional publications usually can present only summary data on population studies. Electronic communication enables the dissemination of complete DNA profile data to the scientific community.

This article presents genotype profile data (dnaloci.txt) in African Americans, U.S. Caucasians, Hispanics, Bahamians, Jamaicans, and Trinidadians for the 13 core STR loci. In addition, profile data are provided for the African American, U.S. Caucasian, and Hispanic samples, which were typed previously for the loci HLA-DQA1, LDLR, GYPA, HBGG, D7S8, Gc, and D1S80 (7, 8; see Table 1 of the raw data in dnaloci.txt). The materials, methods, and results of the population studies are described elsewhere (6-8). These data may prove useful for forensic applications and population genetic studies.

This article is FBI Laboratory Division Publication 99-06. Names of commercial manufacturers are provided for identification only, and inclusion does not imply endorsement by the FBI.
