Genetics - an Excuse for Bad Decisions
Is genetics a valid excuse for bad behaviour? Children misbehave for a number of reasons. Sometimes it's just about being a kid and testing the limits. Other times kids misbehave because of other things going on in their life. Parents not paying attention in a positive way or name calling. A deep place in your soulo where the world can't see, but it' there. A place where the void is deep and there is no way to colimb out. A person feels worthless or stupid. Kids are supposed to be in a safe place when growing up. If you do something wrong, you should not get called names. There should be a warm place you can run to and know arms will hug you tight.
What does a child learn from a parent that offers no safety net? How does a child learn life's boundaries when none has ever been established? Does a child grow up believing in God when he's never been shown compassion? How does a child deal with anger when all he has ever seen is abuse? How does a child have a good work ethic if he has never been taught?
There are many individuals that have been brought up with no parental guidance. That does not give them an excuse for the things they choose to do in life. If a father drinks or does drugs it does not offer an excuse for that child to do the same. We are responsilbe for our own actions and for the choices we make. It does offer insight as to why that individual will sometimes take a wrong pathl. But in no way does it make it excusable. A bad childhood can turn a negative into a positive if that person chooses to. Choose to be a good parent, a person with goals and reflect a positive impact in their own childs' life.
