Global Mindset
According to the "Global Mindset: Expat Success Strategy" (2006), the global mindset is defined by four characteristics: Intellectual Capital, Psychological Capital-Cultural Sensitivity, Psychological Capital –Psychological Fortitude, and Social Capital.
Intellectual capital:
• Understanding of how to build and manage global alliances, partnerships, and value networks.
• The ability to manage the tension between corporate requirements and local challenge
• Ability to handle complex cross-cultural issues
• Understanding of global business and industry
• Understanding cultural similarities
• Understanding other cultures and histories
Psychological Capital-Cultural Sensitivity:
• Respect for other cultures
• Willingness to adapt, learn, and cope with other cultures
• Willingness to accept good ideas no matter where they come from
• Acknowledgment of the validity of different views
• Openness to cultural diversity
• Ability to suspend judgment about those from other cultures
• Positive attitude toward those from other cultures and regions
• Ability to adjust behavior in a different cultural setting
• Willingness to work across time and distance
• Desire to lean about other cultures and other parts of the world
