Go Ask Alice
The book that I read was Go Ask Alice by: anonymous but it was copied by Beatrice Sparks. This book was about a fifteen year old girl who is in high school. Like all girls she is wondering and experiment with boys, this is only the beginning of experimenting. Her dad gets a new job and Alice and the rest of the Family have to move. This is a big for the family and Alice is excited but scared at the same time because of her fears of not fitting in and not having any fiends. Once they move Alice found that her Whole family is adapting fine and Alice feels that she still feels like an outcast from the world where she’s living now. Alice’s parent’s felt that Alice was feeling strained and they told her that she could go stay with her grandmother where they used to live. When she’s shopping with her grandmother she runs into an old friend named Jill and Jill invites her to a party. This party will change Alice’s life forever, at this party they start playing a game and she is handed a soda that had a slip of LSD In the soda. This is where her life is starting to tunnel downwards. She tries speed and many other drugs on her visit with her grandparents. Alice gets addicted to sleeping pills and tranquilizers to help aid her in her sleep. Alice meets someone new named Chris, Chris turns her onto speed and now she is addicted to it. Finally Chris and Alice get fed up with their life at home and go to San Francisco. They both fall in love and get addicted to marijuana with there new boyfriends. They both try heroin with this girl and her boyfriend and they both get brutally raped while high and they both decide to kick that drug lifestyle to the side and instead they opened a small boutique themselves. Alice got homesick called her parents and went home. She was being pressured at school to sell drugs by a lot of kids and she told her parents about this. Her friend Chris had marijuana and Alice got hooked from the smell so then she asked a friend lane for some uppers such as ecstasy and speed. Once again she runs away and she meets up with some people in southern California who are also drug users but she gets fed up and contacts her parents again and goes back home. Someone slips acid into her peanuts and she has a bad trip and thinks that maggots are eating her alive so she’s ripping off clumps of hair and skin. After she is out of the hospital she is sent to an insane asylum. A month or two after she got out the asylum she died on a drug overdose. I chose this book because it shows how drugs can take over kids lives and also how one drug can lead to another. This was a very moving book and affected my life in many different ways.
This book really shows me how easy it is to get drugs and how they could affect your life. In this book Alice did
