God Swot
Strengths
We would like to consider the following four aspects (i.e. product, pricing, promotion, place) how G.O.D. to use its strength doing business in Hong Kong.
 Product
The majority GOD’s furniture is designed by its own designer with unique Hong Kong lifestyle features such as local architecture and also adopts new technology (i.e. nano) into its household goods. Therefore it differentiates from other competitors (i.e. IEKA, FrancFran).
 Pricing
G.O.D.’s target market is the middle class young people who like the unique feature and have their own style. It sets medium and affordable price with specialized design lifestyle products and therefore it fulfills target customers’ needs.
 Promotion
G.O.D.s’ employees have their unique uniforms to put on and its unique company logo is attractive, distinctive and memorable. Moreover, it sponsors different cultural activities and roadshow programme that make customers pay more attention to G.O.D.
 Place
G..O.D.s’ stores locate at Causeway Bay, Tsing Sha Tsui and Centre etc. These entire place are shopping’s hot spot, and thus middle class young people can be attracted who have a high purchase power.
Weaknesses
 Sales
The products are highly profitable because of the high selling price. People aren’t as frugal with their resources and become complacent. Moreover, high profits might also attract a lot of new competitors. For example, B&B.
 Management Team and Employee
GOD is lacking of marketing expertise.
 Products and Services
In spite of unique products, GOD imports 30% out of their total amount of products from other company. It will pollute its unique product image.
 Manufacturing and Distribution
The average production cost of each product is normally high as the production of each product is limited. Thus, GOD cannot enjoy the economies of scale. The high priced product line also limits the sales volume.
For distribution, although GOD has their own web site for online shopping, most of the products are out of stock and the variety of products is less.
Opportunities
We would like to consider the following four aspects (i.e. political, economic, social and technology) how G.O.D. to face of business environments’ opportunities in Hong Kong.
 Political
Hong Kong Government supports creative industry, and therefore it is beneficial for G.O.D. due to most of its products designed by its own designers. Moreover, CEPA II has been occurred that Hong Kong products free of duty access to mainland China since 1 Jan 2005, so it can gain this advantage for exporting its products into mainland China. Currently, the regulations are not strict from Hong Kong Government toward businesses, so there is enough room for it to explore the potential of doing business in Hong Kong.
 Economic
During the past few years Hong Kong Government has been encouraging enterprises to improve management and to promote market competition as a way of improving Hong Kong's competitiveness in the face of economic change. The government would always be conscious of the need to enhance institutional framework so that these and other industries can operate in an environment that is conducive to their further development. As result, G..O.D. can gain advantages from this action.
 Social
Hong Kong people like to try new things, so they would be enthusiastic to shopping online, as it is the trendy. G.O.D. has already provided it on its
