OCD

Leangelo White suffers from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.

Every day he wakes up promptly at 7:00 A.M. Before leaving his bedroom he would touch the doorknob four times and nothing more. He had to. He needed to.

On his way downstairs, he made sure not to step on the third to last step. He never touched that step. He just can’t.

He usually made his routine breakfast of waffle, omelet, and orange juice. He never ate anything else in the morning, just always those and nothing more.

Turing his T.V. on, he would watch his favorite morning show, as usual and nothing more.

Then at exactly 8:30 A.M, he is at work. He would not get there one minute early or later. He had to. He needed to.

He leaves his office at exactly 6:45 PM. Never later or earlier because he just can’t.

When heading home at the intersection of Ninth Street and Western the traffic light was green, like he wanted it to be. It’s always green not yellow or red, just green.

At exactly 7:30 P.M, his car is in the garage, never later or earlier. Before he would go into the house he would check if everything in the garage is in their spot. He had to do it. He needed to.

Today is the day he would wash his car. He washes the car every weekday, but not the weekend. He only washes the front and the side of the car. Never the back. Despite how dirty it will get, he never washes the back. He simply just can’t.

When the day is over he went to his bed exactly at 10:05, P.M, never later or earlier, because he just can’t.

The next morning he woke up at 7:00 A.M. Touched the doorknob four times. And he made sure not to step on the third to last step toward the kitchen. He prepared his waffle, omelet, and orange juice. He turns on his T.V. and watched his favorite morning show and nothing else.

But today he was having a dark eerie feeling, but he doesn’t know why.

Then at exactly 8:30 A.M, he is at work. Again something did not feel right.

It bothers him so much that he was stress out. Usually when he is in stress he gets his work done and he did. He just does and it always happens.

Then exactly at 6:45 P.M, he leaves his office. When getting into the car, the dark feeling came back, but he also begins to hear voices in his head.

When he got back home at exactly 7:30 P.M, he still has that strange feeling.  He then checks if everything is in the garage. As he usually does, but the feeling was still there. However the voices in his head were saying, “Kill him, kill him, kill him now!” He can’t bare it anymore; he is going insane that he scream in agony, “Ahhhhhh!”  So he directly went to sleep, just to finish his day.

The next morning he woke up at 7:00 A.M. Touched the doorknob four times. And he made sure not to step on the third to last step toward the kitchen. He prepared his waffle, omelet, and orange juice. He turns on his T.V. and watched his favorite morning show and nothing else.

But today that same feeling from yesterday came back, but he doesn’t know why.

He felt aggravated. He hurries out the door in a vicious rage, and quickly locked the door. Then again, one more time.  He just had to.

He hoped that the feeling would go away when he is working. It didn’t. He doesn’t know why.
