Gtattaca Essay

My opinion on genetic engineering is that it is not fair to turn your child into the person you want then to be. For example giving them a mind suited to be a lawyer for example. They can not do or follow their dreams whatever they may be. The reason for having a child is so you can love them no matter what they look like or if they have a disability they are your child and that’s the only thing that should matter to you. The point is to love and cherish them forever. Your child should resemble you and your partner looks and personality not someone else’s.

Like the movie Jerome was depressed and tried to kill himself as he was unhappy with his life. Jerome was a valid which means he was genetically engineered, he was meant to be perfect and have a wonderful life as he had lots of possibilities, but Jerome didn’t want all the glory. That proves that if you chose to have a genetically engineered child it doesn’t necessarily mean they will have a happy ever after.

Ireane was also a valid but still had a slight heart memer which meant for her that she would never be able to fly into space, she could still work for Gattaca but would never go into space. So even if you choose to have a genetically engineered child it still doesn’t mean that they would be perfect in every way, and have everything they ever wanted.

If everyone was genetically engineered life would be so boring everyone would naturally be perfect, their would be no cultures or religions and people wouldn’t have their own beliefs.
