Harrison Keyes
Problem Statement
Harrison-Keyes Publishing is facing a serious financial situation. Bookstores that carry HK’s materials are permitting no questions asked’ returns which are costing HK. There is new competition from online suppliers and e-publishers which produce material faster and at a lower cost. The Board of Directors has turned to e-publishing to gain a wider market base to better provide quality information in a quality format. However, authors are opposed to e-publishing for fear of plagiarism and losing royalties, the Marketing Team believes e-publishing is a trend and not a solution, the outsourced supplier is not meeting deadlines or returning calls, HK’s technology is incompatible with that of the outsource company, and HK’s technology team is unfamiliar with the software used by the outsource company.
