Fire Precautions Act

1. Employers must have a plan to evacuate employees safely in the event of fire.

2. All areas must have sufficient means of escape.

3. They must also have supplies to extinguish the fire.

4. If there are over 21 employed or more than 11above or below ground they must have a fire certificate.

Health and Safety at Work Act

1. It sets down duties to the employers and all employees.

2. Its protects the employer and all employees.

3. It includes welfare at work.

4. It considers emission and danger.

Electricity at Work Regulations

1. Employers must ensure that the electrical equipment is safe.

2. Employers must also ensure that thee is a procedure in place to disconnect.

3. Equipment must also be protected from adverse weather by employers.

4. Employers must ensure that all electrical equipment is tested.

Noise at Work Regulations

1. Employers must ensure that noise levels are kept down.

2. Employers must provide information and protection for employees.

3. Employers must also mark out were there is high noise level.

4. Employers must also ensure that protection is worn.

Management of H&S Regulations

1. It is duty of the employer to assess risks to the worker and record findings.

2. The employer must also minimise the risk to the employee.

3. The employer must insure that records are kept of any workers at risk.

4. Employers must assess any to everyone i.e. public, self employed, visitors etc

Workplace Health, Safety and Welfare Regulations

1. Floors should be fit for their purpose, drained and maintained.

2. Equipment must be tested, inspected and serviced.

3. Lighting must be sufficient, if possible natural light.

4. There must be washing facilities, hot and cold showers if necessary.

Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations

1. These Regulations inform employers how harmful substances should be stored.

2. These Regulations inform employers of the dangers of some chemicals.

3. These Regulations inform the employer of how chemicals are to be labelled.

4. These Regulations inform the employers of how long employees are to be exposed to dangerous substances

Display Screen Equipment Regulations

1. Thee state that an employee must be using VDU for a significant part of the day.

2. Eye tests must be given to employees through the employer's expense.

3. Training and instruction must be provided to the employee.

4. In these regulation guidance is given on lighting, adjustable chairs and computers, 5 legs on the chair etc.

Working Time Regulations

1. An adult is seen as 18 years of age.

2. Night work is considered anyone working between 11.00pm and 6.00am.
