               History Essay

As the years past, the Human race is starting to understand the many mistakes we have made. They understand what they have done to certain groups of people was wrong. One of Canada's biggest mistake was ruining the great relationship with the Native people. Canada now knows that they have to fix that relationship. First they have to admit what they have done. There are plenty of reasons why the Native people are angry at the Canadians.

The Natives became friends with the settlers, then took them in and taught the settlers how to survive on this new land, now known as Canada. They were taught how to skin, cook, build, hunt, and etc. This help the settlers on creating a new civilization and life style.   Eventually the settlers betrayed the Natives. They would sneak around Native villages and attack without warning. Therefore many innocent Natives were killed. After the slaughter, the settlers would either burn the village or take it for themselves. Many Native tribes were destroyed because the settlers ruthless behaviour. As another punishment, the Settlers would send the Natives to a different location to live.  They were mostly sent up north, therefore leaving the Natives to fend for themselves without proper shelter, food, and protection. It was bad enough that they got their land taken away, but I guess it wasn't enough, so they were sent away to rot.

The settlers decided to take Native children away and send them to school. This is where they would learn how to speak English and lose their rights to be Native. For example they would not allow them to speak their language, they would beating them, severe punishments were declared, the children would lose connections with their family, they were treated like monsters, and talked to like there were peasants. You can say this was a type of child abuse. This betrayal escalated in to a war. Therefore the Natives have every right to be angry at the Canadians. Canadians now have tried to build up that friendship that used to be there. They have given them an apology, and generate amount of money. The Canadian government have also given them better living standards. For example the Natives are now free to travel anywhere they would like. They just have to meet the requirements, like your own passport, a clean record, etc. They have also built the Natives areas to live. Sometimes money can’t solve everything. Either way the settlers stilled betrayed them and took what was theirs. The Natives still won't get their land back.
