How to Be a Good Writer

Books, magazines, and poetry. There’s more to an article or novel than just ink on paper. Behind that ink, behind that paper is a person. A person attempting to imply a further take on the thoughts, the opinions and the emotions that capacitate ones self. How to be a good writer. It was once said that, Good writers define reality; bad ones merely restate it. A good writer turns fact into truth; a bad writer will, more often than not, accomplish the opposite. Writing is an expression, an expression of the quick of the soul. A solo art, not so much recognized as such. Writers write to inform of facts, opinions. To entertain with stories, to influence readers, to put emotion into words. But at most, to be themselves. I believe there are 3 ways in which to be a good writer. 3 simple ways that break down all barriers, open your mind and get pen to paper.

Listen. Let your ears guide you. Listen to the world around you, the people, and the commotion. Listening to what’s around you and what people have to say is an experience in itself. Hear the world out. There’s reasoning behind every cause and effect. Open up to things. The clearer your mind is, the better your focus. An open mind perceives things much more naturally, much more in depth. Listen to whatever it may be that guides you. You’re conscious; you’re God, your heart or your preferred guidance. The counseling and advice you receive can be abounding. Learning to listen to the voice within yourself, allows you to be more expressionistic. Especially in terms of writing.

Look. With all your heart and soul. Understanding and having wonder to the world and people around you is much more likely to expand your train of thought and get the creative aspect of your mind to amplify, creativity being an important element. Reading often as well as reading dictionary’s or thesauruses also increases your potential to be a good writer. You’re vocabulary is much likely more extensive when reading and taking in new things, new words. Vocabulary and grammar is also a key to good writing. Repetitive use of words bores readers, therefore a more resourceful knowledge of words and their definitions come in hand. Look at the condition’s of both sides when an argument is present or a conflict arises. Look at the whys and the hows, the pros and the cons. Being
