How to Buy the Right Pc

How to Buy the Right PC

Imagine you are walking into Best Buy looking to buy a new computer and you don’t know what to get, what should you do. Well first of all, the consumer should never put yourself into a situation like this because they might leave with a computer that does not fit them and the things they plan on doing with their new computer. So before the consumer leaves to go to buy a new computer they should always know what they plan on using their computer for, who will be using it, and the price they plan on paying for it.

There are many factors that will come into affect when trying to decide on what computers good for the purchaser, but the first thing that someone should do before deciding on a computer is to know what they plan on using the computer for. Because if the consumer wants a computer for just one reason then they can save themselves a lot of money by singling one out that matches that.

Buying PC’s for a Company

For instance, say you (the consumer/purchaser) own a fast food chain and you plan on placing computers in each office at the stores. You wouldn’t want to just go get a top dollar computer with a lot of memory in it for each store that would be unnecessary and costly. What you would want to do is find what programs your employees will be using and how much memory is needed for the program, and find a computer that has that amount of memory and can run the program that you chose. This will save money for you and will stop employees from getting sidetracked, which is another plus!

Buying PC’s for College Students

Another example of this is computers for college students. Say you’re on a budget and you need a computer for your classes and don’t know what to get what kind of computer should you get. Well the first step would have to be to decide if you want a laptop or a desktop. The basic choice for college students is a laptop, but you should still go threw your choices. If you are taking a major that you will not need to take a computer to your classes, and you need a lot of memory for what you will be doing (like graphic designer) then you would go threw and find a computer with a lot of memory and is compatible for the program that is going to be used in your classes. If this is what you need then this is the way to go, but if you will need to take your pc to your classes then you must go a different way about deciding what to get. In this situation you would go about this a different way. The first thing you would do in this situation is to find a computer that can do all the things you plan on doing on it, not only for school related things but personal things too. If you just plan on using the pc for classes and that’s it then you would find a computer that comes with a program like Vista, XP, etc. that will have all the applications you believe are needed for classes like Word. And pick the best one for you. But if you plan on doing other things than just work on it than you must take these factors into affect. Say you plan on playing a lot of games, watching movies, or listening to music on your new pc. If this is the case you would want to find a computer with the screen of your desire for your game play or theatrical reasons. And if the games you plan on playing take up a lot of memory then it would be smart to get a pc that has enough memory for your programs.

Buying a PC for a Household

Another instance is if you want the pc for use for your household, and in this case there are many smaller factors that you must think about. The first factor would have to be what YOU plan on using the computer for basic use like e-mail, office tasks, basic picture editing, music, games, etc. And make sure the computer you choose is appropriate for what YOU plan on using it for. Then if you have a spouse you must take into account what HE/SHE will use it for, if he/she will use it at all. Because if they will use the pc for something different than you, you will have to add the application they want to the memory you plan on getting. The last factor that can affect the pc you might choose for a household is if you have kids. Again because you will have to take into account what THEY will use the pc for. In most cases kids might not know what they will use it for then you should just use an educated guess on what they will use it for. In most cases kids are on the internet checking their facebooks or myspace's. Or they might be playing games on the internet or off a cd-rom. So you might want to get a computer that will be fast and have the memory for the games. Because of these factors you must go through an extensive “study” stage for a household computer.
