NEW DELHI: DMK MP Kanimozhi on Friday appeared before a special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in connection with 2G spectrum allotment scandal in which she has been named co-accused.

Kanimozhi, who is also Tamil Nadu chief minister M Karunanidhi's daughter, moved a bail application in the court in connection with the 2G scam. If denied bail, the DMK MP could face arrest. Senior lawyer Ram Jethmalani defended Kanimozhi in court, saying that she is only a shareholder in the company, TV reports said. He also said that the entire conspiracy in the spectrum allocation was done by former telecom minister A Raja.

Managing director of Kalaignar TV Sharad Kumar also appeared in court. Several DMK MPs were present in the court at Patiala House complex. Kanimozhi and Sharad Kumar are amongst those named in the second chargesheet by the CBI.

Among those present in court were A Raja, who is currently lodged in jail, as well as Vinod Goenka of Swan Telecom, Sanjay Chandra of Unitech and three officials of Reliance ADAG: Gautam Doshi,
