Imformation Technology in a Restourant

MIS Business Model

Company introduction (General introduction):

The Monarch Bay Club – This is an exclusive private beach club located right on the sand in Dana Point, California. Chef Chris Juers offers very impressive cosmopolitan style aquired from his tenure at several of Manhattan’s finest restaurants with the casual elegance of the Monarch Bay Club’s one of a kind oceanfront setting. It specializes in California contemporary cuisine coupled with unmatched world renowned service.

Business model (How does this business operate, profit):

The company operates in four ways. First, the business offers its exclusive California cuisine. This includes appetizers, lunch, dinner, and brunch on Sundays. It charges money per item ordered as well as a la carte during holidays. Second, the business offers membership. The bay club charges an annual membership to all its members in addition to a service fee for people to be put on the waiting list to become a member. The only way to be serviced at the bay club or use its private beach is to become a member. Membership does not include food costs. It can take years to go from waiting list to being an actual member. However, members are allowed to bring guests. All charges go to membership account kept in a database which I will get into later in this literature. There are some exceptions on how membership can be attained. Membership is automatically granted to those who purchase a house in the ultra exclusive gated residential community through which all people need to pass to get to the Monarch Bay Club. Houses range from 7 to 40 million dollars. Due to bay clubs association with the St. Regis Resort and Spa, members receive discounts to 10-hole Monarch Beach Golf Links, Two complimentary nights at the St. Regis Resort, discounts to spas, salons, restaurants, club 19, Jewelry, free family membership to the ocean institute, discount limos and car rentals, and finally discount floral and decorating services. The Third way the bay clubs operates and generates money is through events. The bay club has an event for every holiday of the year and adds some unique special ones displaying the bay clubs unique flavor such as beer and wine tasting. The fourth and final way the bay club operates and profits is by offering various amenities and activities. Activities include: surf lessons, snorkeling or a peaceful kayak outing. The beach area, which includes our signature beach food and beverage service brought right to your location on the sand, chair, towel, and beach umbrella service, use of fire pits, volleyball areas, and other recreation activities. Amenities include Wireless Internet, A groomed and cleaned beach, Multiple position beach chairs for added comfort, "On the sand" walk-up food and beverage station featuring quick and easy snacks, Fire pit set-up service to include firewood, Beach recreation coordinator, Volleyball areas featuring nets and lined courts, Frisbee Golf, Unlimited use of Kayaks, Weekly summer "movie night".

Information requirement (Database, E-commerce, other application software used):

Dining area seating is available through reservation only. During the reservation data is collected by the host/greeter at the restaurant. The host writes down the person’s name and membership identification number in the reservation book. Seating is available through reservation only. The business also has a website incase anyone is interested in finding out about services the bay club offers or wants to know who to contact about membership. Everything get transferred over to their database on a point of sale system computer with BPA Restaurant Professional
