Jason's Journey - a Quest for Chemistry

Jason’s Journey is a sci-fi short movie about a little boy named Jason who has a strange dream about his family visit to the beach. It begins with his family arriving to the beach searching for a spot to settle down. Jason and his sister began to fight over the water. They both are thirsty and are ready to enjoy their afternoon. Suddenly all of their belongings disappear and all they left with are white robes. Jason notices something in the sky and points this out to his family. It introduces itself as the Ocean of Wisdom.

The Ocean of Wisdom takes them on a journey explaining to the family the importance of water. Water is a common chemical substance that is essential to all known forms of life. Water covers 71% of the Earth's surface in oceans and other large water bodies, in aquifers, vapor, clouds and precipitation. Some of the Earth's water is contained within man-made and natural objects near the Earth's surface such as water towers, animal and plant bodies, manufactured products, and food stores. Chlorine has been used for applications, such as the deactivation of pathogens in drinking water, swimming pool water and wastewater, for the disinfection of household areas and for textile bleaching, for more than two hundred years. When chlorine was discovered we did not now that disease was caused by microorganisms. In the nineteenth century doctors and scientists discovered that many diseases are contagious and that the spread of disease can be prevented by the disinfection of hospital areas. Very soon afterward, we started experimenting with chlorine as a disinfectant. After this demonstration, Wisdom gives the family water to drink.
