West Paces Hotel Group was founded by Horst Schulze in 2002, after Mr. Schulze retired from the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Group. Horst Schulze has revolutionized the hospitality industry. A banquet manager is a key member to The Hotel at Auburn University managed by the West Paces Hotel Group event team and also works closely with other departments in the Hotel such as Conference Service Manager, Banquet Captains, and Food And Beverage. A banquet manager oversees the staffing for each function and communicates between each department for banquets. The banquet manager will also prepare monthly budget reports to be overlooked by the Gerneral Manager.

Interview YES. We interviewed Dirga Buwana - AUHCC This tool was very beneficial for us. We were able to hear from Mr. Dirga on what he does on a day-to-day basis. The interview allowed us to ask in depth questions of what is required of a banquet manager.
Interview with HR Manager YES. We interviewed Donna Golden - AUHCC The interview was very helpful with putting together our job analysis. We were able to get a list of the banquet manager's duties and functions while interviewing Donna.
Observation YES. We observed Dirga for a few hours a day for a few days. This allowed use to see what a banquet manager does daily. We were able to have hands on activity with Mr. Dirga and see him fill out schedules and coordinate upcoming events for the day. We also noticed the relationship between the banquets division and kitchen.

• Job Summary:
• A Banquet Manager is responsible for hiring qualified staff to perform all banquet activities for daily functions in order to provide successful functions and create repeat customers. The Banquet Manager is also responsible for training and directing said employees to ensure optimal customer service.
• Relationships
• A Banquet Manager reports to Food & Beverage Manager.
• The Food & Beverage Manager reports to the General Manager.
• A Banquets Managers is responsible for the Audio and Visual department, Banquet Captains, Banquet Supervisors, and Banquet Servers.
• Responsibilities and Duties
• Hire, schedule and train banquet staff.
• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the banquet division.
• Communicate with the kitchen, service, beverage, conference services, and audio visual staff during the function.
• Conduct weekly banquet schedules.
• Conduct monthly budget reports.
• Attends weekly meetings for upcoming events.
• Order supplies and linens for upcoming events.
