Lincoln and Kennedy

Lincoln and Kennedy

Abraham Lincoln and JFK were two very different men. Lincoln was known as "honest Abe", where Kennedy had his scandals. Both presidents had different views and presidential styles. Even their looks were completely opposite. Aside from their differences, however, Lincoln and Kennedy have some eerie similarities and many involving the men's assassinations.

To start of with, there are many numerical coincidences dealing with dates and names. Lincoln was first elected to congress in 1846. Kennedy's first time elected to congress was exactly a century apart in 1946. Although both men's experiences with getting there are different, the dates being a century apart continue making the coincidence even more interesting. Lincoln was elected president in 1860, and Kennedy, again, was elected president one hundred years later. Both men, after their death, were succeeded by someone named Johnson. Both Johnsons (Andrew Johnson and Lyndon Johnson) also have a century similarity. Andrew Johnson was born in 1808, and Lyndon Johnson was born in 1908. The birth dates of the assassins themselves coincide. John Wilkes Booth, the man who killed Lincoln, was born in 1839. One hundred years later, Lee Harvey Oswald, Kennedy's assassin, was born. Also, for additional pondering thoughts, Lincoln and Kennedy both contain seven letters. Both assassins were known to the media by having three names, which by chance consisted of fifteen letters each. These dates and numbers may not seem to be that amazing, but after reading the future coincidences, you may think differently.

Aside from the presidents, both assassins were similar in a few ways too. Booth and Oswald were both Southerners. Although they were born in different states, both spent the majority of their lifetime
