Lois Lowry was born on March 20, 1937. By the time she was eight or nine she wanted to be a writer. Her father was in the military his name is Robert Hammersbreg. When Lois was younger, she had to move to different places all the time, such as New York and Pennsylvania. Lois was married when she was 19 in 1956. Lois has four children, one of her daughters was murdered, a book was written about the murder called A Summer to Die. Her son is in the air force. She was married for 21 years and was divorced in 1977.
Lois graduated High school in New York. She graduated collage at Brown University. Lois love photography, for The Giver she took a photo for the cover. The first book Lois Lowry wrote was A Summer to Die.
A few books from Lois Lowry are A Summer to Die, Crow Call, and Gathering Blue. A Summer to die is about her daughter's murder. Gathering Blue is the sequel to The Giver. Crow Call is about World War Two. Lois Lowry is a great author and photographer. She has been through a lot of thing when she was a child. Her books are loved everywhere. Middle Schools use her books in class. She is now with her grandchildren living her live.
