This company is partnership ran business that opened its doors in 1991, in the small town of Marengo, IL. Mark Anderson and Sam Accib are the proud founders of this HVAC and plumbing business for residential or commercial. The company was unable to give an annul report, due to the fact that it is a small business, and it not necessary in their company. The promotional practices used throughout the years have been ads in the Northwest Herald (three to five times a year), the Marengo Paper, and the most important one is the word of mouth apportion. What is your official title? Business Owner and Manager of the HVAC and Plumbing Division.
What does your job entail? I am responsible for management for all of the workers in the company, the hiring and firing as well. I also maintain the budget, prepare and administrate the budget. As well as, create special promotions throughout the year to bring more business into the company.
What is required of you? As owner of this company, I am responsible for all of my workers and the work and service they provide to our customers. I am also responsible for bring more work into the business, as well as making a profit.
What is typical day at work for you? There is not a day that’s the same for me. It changes day to day, and hour to hour. My phone is always ringing, mostly customers. One thing in business is that the customer is always right no matter if they are wrong or right. So I have to take care of them day or night, Sunday or Friday.
Tell me something about yourself? I‘ve been in business for 15 years, and I don’t regret a thing starting this business, so far to this date. The best source that helped me was that I understood the field of HVAC. Peer to me getting into business, I worked as an installer in new construction, which made it easier on me. You better know the field, before starting your own business.
What does your educational background include? My educational background includes my high school diploma, a few heating and cooling class, from ECC. The best way or tool in learning this trade is hands on training and a good trainer. Most of my knowledge came from working with different people. I was able to learn more working with my hands and brain at work then at school. Also knowing how to apply what you’ve learned is what really counts.
What are some advantages and disadvantages of your job? Advantages would be, being able to work for yourself, the flexibility at times, and lastly the money. Disadvantages would be dealing with customers 24/7, and the commit to the company.
