True Lies Film Analysis
The emotional rollercoaster which is Billy Elliot sketches out the lives of an eleven year old boy and his family whose lives have been turned upside down by the recent strike of the coal miners which his father Jackie and his brother Tony is part of. Though the film contains some disturbingly cheesy dance routines the film is about more than a British kid that does ballet as it shows us the delicate family relation in the household Billy lives in, especially after the recent death of Billy’s mother whose grave he visits regularly.
The side plots are also believable and the characters get developed making you feel close to them because of the high-quality acting skills shown. Though Billy Elliot may not have as many laughs as other British comedies such as The Full Monty’ it gives a heart warming message about family and fighting for what you believe in and does it without being too corny.
When I found out we were studying True Lies’ in class, I couldn’t help but feel extremely disappointed that it was just another action film as you obviously know by now, I am the more Billy Elliot’ type of person. But being as optimistic and broad minded as I am, I welcomed the film with open arms, it may just be that action films aren’t my cup of tea but I found True Lies’ terrible. If the unoriginal storyline doesn’t get to you the over the top explosions and stunts will.
Though the storyline may be lacking in originality it is amusing in parts, In True Lies, there are two running stories, which eventually tie in together. The story revolves around Harry, an agent, on his wife who’s getting fed up of her boring life and teenage daughter don’t know he’s an agent.
