Mgmt 404 - Project Management!

Let's look at Amber Briggs' new project and management of her kick off meeting. Julia has a good idea of having regular meetings with top leadership. She could also request that one member of top leadership attend her routine meetings with the project team. This would allow them to see first hand what is going on, how things are being handled and if the team is staying on schedule. If there are any issues, Amber wold have the support of top management there to help her handle anything she may not be able to on her own. I believe this also gives top management time to evaluate exactly what the project is and how time consuming things may be. Sometimes it is difficult to determine the extent of something until we get involved. Top management can potentially have the routine of staying away from such projects and only get involved when necessary. If they were involved from the beginning this would be a greater benefit to the project.

With regards to Amber Briggs management of the meeting, I felt that she did not take control of the meeting. What she should have done first was to make it clear that negative responses was not going to be tolerated. She also should have set dates
