Military Pay and the Difficulties They Face
For years we have looked to our military to protect our homes and our magnificent country. These are the brave men and woman who would give their lives willingly for our freedom to endure. Yet these are also the same men and woman who are not paid enough, who are disgraced upon returning from overseas, who must face unfair treatment not only by their government, but by the very people they fight and die to protect. These men and woman shouldn’t have to go through this disgrace just for doing what is right.
The brave men and woman of this great country have to live off of a small amount of money provided by the government that they protect. This money is rated depending on rank and as such it grows as one would progress throughout their career. The money that is provided, however, is not enough to care for a man who is just beginning and has a family to care for. The economy and the price for living have steadily grown whilst the rate of pay has stayed the same, if not decreased. This makes living so much more difficult than it should be for a man who is giving everything to their country.
Yet here we have professional athletes who’s only job is to entertain and to provide a means of relaxation, and they are being paid by the millions! By the millions! To think that a man who guards a ball from a force of opposing linemen gets paid millions more than a man who guards our country from foreign invasion. What’s more is should a player be injured whilst playing a GAME, they may be out for a season thus hurting their career by a insignificant margin. Now should a soldier be injured (Heaven Forbid) then his entire life may be at risk and even the lives of that particular soldier’s family. Yet we as Americans are fine with this? In what area of the world was this injustice decided?
To speak of injustices, let us move on to America itself. We the American people were founded on the blood of our own people. Yet we did it all in the name of American patriotism and freedom. Now we fight overseas against an enemy in the name of the same values, however, we cannot show the men and woman who are doing the fighting for us the proper love and respect they deserve? Our government has even turned against us. The largest slap to the face is the fact that they are cutting our military’s benefits to make way for the senator’s paychecks. A man who is entitled the ability to shop at a store tax free because of his job is now giving up this right because a senator who is already making more than enough money to sustain his/her lifestyle wants more. Let us not forget the fact that America is a nation based upon the relocation of money, if we were to look back at the source of the money being relocated then we would see that most cuts come from our armed forces. Why are we taking money from the area of our national budget that protects us?!
Can we not find someplace other than the armed forces to make these cuts? For example…professional athletes, our senators, our politicians who send our family members to die, the President himself! One would hope that our nation is well defended from outside attack, however it is difficult to protect our great nation if we don’t have the funds or the morale to do so.
