The members of the state legislature have hired me, a criminologist advisor to work for the state implementing a new bill on doubling a maximum sentence for anyone convicted of armed robbery. As a criminologist advisor, I have been chosen to provide the state legislature with a prison term policy on armed robbery. Shortly, the state legislature will be voting on the new bill. The new bill is to determine if the new prison term policy should affect anyone convicted of an armed robbery crime to be given a double maximum sentence. As a criminologist advisor, I will research and make recommendations if I believe if a new bill in place will do any good. The bill for the maximum prison sentence is popular among the people on the state legislature board. Although, the bill is popular among the board members, the boss hires you to research the situation because he wonders if the new bill will be to the advantage of rehabilitation to the violator and to society. Included will be a recommendation and the reasons why the recommendations were chosen.

Included in my paper, I will define the following word, prison term policy, robbery, and armed robbery so clarification can be obtained. The prison term policy will determines if a policy should remain the same or if changes should be implemented in some sort of way. The policy will have one to two recommendations, along with stating why the previous outdated plan wasn’t keeping individuals from committing the same crime again. The new policy will give recommendations on the best possible way to prevent these crimes from re occurring.

Oftentimes, the person in authority is making decisions for an individual who is authority as a cabinet member, committee member or some other person in authority. The policy recommendations will include briefing notes, with in-depth analysis of the options involved within the policy. Key terms will be discussed within the policy, giving terminology which will be simple for all to comprehend. Policy recommendation can be valued as sound a sound policy or can be dismissed as in favor of another preference. The recommendation will stand or be dismissed depending on how well the issues when argued or justified. (Doyle, (2008)

The policy recommendation is structured in a standard form. Formats vary from jurisdiction to jurisdictions, but all have common features. The issue at hand is addressed and a decision is formed to ensure a decision has been made. One or more recommendation is made in reference to the issue at hand. Between the issue of the policy and the recommendations, comes an analysis of the policy. Problem solving
