New Zealand
History
Recently I have been researching the history of the country New Zealand and found some interesting things. Apparently there was a war back in the 1900's between two tribes, Te Roroa and Pukerangiora. They fought with muskets, hence the name "Musket War." The tribe Te Roroa originated in the north island, and then came along the southern island tribe Pukerangiora. There were a series of battles ranging from 1903-1946. Pukerangiora tried to take over the north island, but Te Roroa would not have that. Te Roroa won the first battle, making Pukerangiora retreat back to the south island.
Everything remained calm for about three years, and then Te Roroa started making their way down to the south island, killing and eating stray natives. They tried to cross to the south island, but their boats were poorly made and sank on the journey. Everyone drowned. Now, with only the few people that stayed behind Te Roroa stayed put for a while and became allies with the Kawhia tribe. Pukerangiora never knew about the attempt by Te Roroa trying to cross
