Task 3.1
NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) is an intergovernmental military alliance. It aims at safeguarding the freedom and security of its members through political and military means. In political aspect, NATO promotes democratic values, encourages consultation and cooperation on defense and security issues. It build trust and prevent conflict among member countries. In military aspect, NATO is committed to the peaceful resolution of disputes and has the military capacity needed to undertake crisis-management operations if diplomatic efforts fail. Its membership was made up of Albania, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Turkey, The United Kingdom, and The United States. All members in NATO are committed to be an entirety and conduct collective defense. When one member’s benefit is harmed, all other members take responsibility in assist the defense against threats in order to maintain the stability of the wholesome economic and politic. It also provides a unique link between Europe and North America for consultation and cooperation in defense and security. It enables the two continent to conduct multinational crisis-management operations. Since countries united together in military and political activities, the political condition in member countries will be more stable, and each member will gain higher political status from the international collaboration. Due to the decrease of inter-conflict and the growing extent of cooperation, the political risks faced by enterprises when conducting international business and worldwide investment will be effectively reduced.
