On Virtue and Happiness
Desire and an end? Only seach for things that play int that end. People do not desire anything but happiness. But he also says "the desire of virtue is not as universal, but it is as authentic a fact as the desire of happiness. And hence the opponents of the utilitarian standard deem that they have a right to infer that there are other ends of human action besides happiness and that happiness is NOT the standard of approbation and disapprobation."
So what is he saying? Is happiness the end or not? Sounds like virtue plays a much higher role than the end result in life being happiness. They both play the same role of being the end but he does show how they can coenside w/ one another.
