Argument: Is the high cost of living in California worth it?
Thesis: Yes, the high amount of money it takes to live in San Diego, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and other major California cities is worth it because of its experience.
Premise 1: California is known for its varying geography and location.
• No matter what type of geography people want, they can find it in California.
o The north and inland has mountains and ski slopes.
o The whole coast of California is made of beaches.
o There are many different areas of California that are covered in desserts and areas you can go camping on.
• The great location of the state of California also makes it extremely desirable.
o To the south, you have the border of Mexico.
o Hawaii and its islands are right off the coast of southern California.
o Northern California is driving distance from Canada.
Premise 2: Another reason for paying so much to live in California is because California is very diverse.
• Since the southern coast of California is so close to Mexico, there are parts of southern California that are influenced by the Mexican culture.
• Most of the major cities have authentic Chinatown, like Los Angeles San Francisco.
• In popular cities like San Francisco, they have many city blocks that are dedicated to the Italian culture.
• As well as many other cultures since lots of people came into America through Angel Island.
