Paper on Change

#1. I have experienced change in several areas of my life since I have made the transition from high school to college. These areas include 1) the amount of responsibility that is being put on me, 2) the seriousness of what grades I get in college can do to my record, and 3) the difficulties of going to a completely new social environment. I realize that no body is going to be getting on my case for skipping a class in college and that it is all up to me to make it to the classes. I also am aware that not going to classes is going to affect my grades severely and the seriousness of grades in college is much more important than my grades in high school. I believe it is very important to have a social life no matter what location I am in and transitioning from high school to college is a big social change and it is a struggle to meet new friends.

Several changes are being made in my life just in a simple change of school and it is very difficult at times but I am pushing through to make it to class, maintain my grades, and make sure that I am making friends who will be good and supportive towards my transition.

#2. My opinion is that successfully dealing with change is a key life skill that one needs to succeed in life no matter what ones career is. People deal with change quite often when moving to a new city, possible relationship problems with a spouse causing separation or divorce, and starting a new job or a new career. I have done my fair share of moving to new cities and it is a big change that one needs to be able to deal with because moving to a new city may happen quite often depending on the job one gets and if one knows how to deal with change than he/she can handle the move well and know how to make friends and make light of that situation put in. Relationship troubles is something that everyone is going to deal with at some point or another in their life and if one knows how to deal with change they can avoid a depressive slump. A new job or career is something that I know I might be dealing with a few times in my life and knowing how to deal with the change in environment will help me to work to my full potential.

Change comes at you in all directions in life and if one knows how to deal with it, than in the long run one has a much higher chance of being more successful in life.

#3. I think that the suggestions in this chapter for change can be implemented in my life today by applying them into my school life, my work life, and my social life. School is the main change that this chapter has talked about and I believe it is the biggest change that I am going through right now as well. I learned a lot of helpful skills that I can use to deal with this change such as figuring out what I need or want to change about how I did school and the past and then going out and doing it. I also learned in this chapter that I can research my options of what it is that I want to change and I believe that this technique will help me out a whole lot in my work life. Identifying the obstacles and overcoming them is the last strategy that I learned in this chapter and I think that this strategy
