Passionate Bonds
The presentations that I chose for my Humanities class mean a lot to me. I chose each particular presentation because everyone around the world is passionate about one thing or another. Whether it's school, work, hobbies, ornaments, or cars. Some even share passionate bonds with siblings, friends, pets, and maybe even a twin. The passions in my life would be the bonds that I share with my children, family, and my husband.
In each of the presentations that I spoke about in my Humanities class I felt that I received the utmost respect. During my presentation it was as if the class as a whole was looking forward to hearing what I had to say each particular time. Some of my classmates appeared to me to be more interested in my presentation than others, although they were all good to me. I also thought the feedback I received was excellent. It was not always by the words of one's mouth but by the expression of one's face.
I also believed the class responded to my presentation because of my background, meaning, I'm just old fashioned with a lot of wisdom. Even though I believe I am one of the youngest in the class, my older peers really looked up to me and just to know this made me feel really great. Another reason why the class responded to my presentation is because I represent a success story to some of them. In all my presentations I constantly talked about my 3 children, all boys, DeAnthony in particular. Although he is not my biological child, my classmates respected the fact that my husband and I took on additional responsibility in raising another child. This would be one of my success stories because to me this is probably something a lot of them would not have done. The success and length of my marriage is, also, significant. I believe that talking about my marriage was the biggest success story because a lot of my peers seemed over whelmed by the fact my husband and I are together, and still growing strong each and every day. To me a lot of their marriages have fallen apart and their homes are broken, and all of these things are what has made me a success story to them.
During all of the presentations there were a couple that really caught my attention. Mr. Slater's, presentation "Tomorrow" by Robert Frost. This related to me as a student and as a mother. Never put off what can be done today for tomorrow, because tomorrow is not promised.
In my pursuit of happiness, as a mother I would often put off house work, errands, and even me time until tomorrow. As a full time student, a wife, and a friend, with three children, I have a never ending "To Do List" and even one day of putting it off to the next day can be and has been a catastrophe. I got behind in my homework which through the entire house hold off schedule, made me late for work, and affected the money being brought into support the household. To make a long story short putting things off until tomorrow had a big effect on me.
In my quest towards higher learning, in the beginning I was skeptical. I was scared. I was tired. I was determined. I kept making excuse after excuse why I could not attend school, and how it would not fit into my life. Then one day I said to myself "Just do it! Tomorrow may bring a better you, a better me, you got to get out get going to be strong. What you do today determines your tomorrow."
I've learned several things about all the presentations. Mainly what I have learn is that we each perceive things differently and we all enjoy different things, but we all have one thing in common. We all aspire and
