People should not appeal to the state for help because the state is inherently oppressive

In this paper, I want my readers to understand how the some social movement theories argue that people should not appeal to the state for help because the State is inherently oppressive.

In Elizabeth Martine’s theory she explains on what provides grounds for political struggle, always being a We what is the ground for that and that we are all experiencing violence when we look at what happens, when looking at people different color, is not going to be enough to create a shared alliance. She thinks racism as an interconnected suppression of power meaning the structure of the social world in which were all involve the context of this is what we are looking about a concept of alliance building that we build on the structure of racism such as working on a group of women. Sista to Sista is an Organization where People are working together in a very lively way and at the same time, they are focussing on the idea that all groups are capable of working together to solve the self-determination. Collective of young women of colour, dedicated to build a model of liberation and underline their life. Eventually having a whole area where everyone there would be willing to displace violence against women and especially women of color. What Sista Sista is saying, “it’s not a good decision if not everyone can stand behind a decision and can live by it”.

Experiences tell us that often people with the most power, they make more money and also get to decide what happens and all involved all have the same emphasis on the value. Collective action, sisterhood, collective action needs to be built and is not just there, orientation towards listening to the model of collective power putting particular people in leadership position and thinking they are the best. Power is something that is built and becoming more powerful, people that are involved in the organization will continue to build and grow more powerful as well. The Sista to Sista Organization feels that the state is inherently oppressive and they see the police as an agency that is against the work of Sista to Sista program. In 1981 a young women was killed in the community by a police officer, after that, the community organized and trained people to protect their own so if anyone needed help in the community they would have trained people in this houses where there was blue light and people that needed protection could go to this houses for rescue. They see the police as an agency that is against the work of sista 2 sista. This can be related to Holloways theory of ‘NO”, because the Sista to Sista, they stand strong together and fought against the No violence policy especial against Women.

Secondly in society common sense has something no one will say is there, the Context of social relations or sexual orientation and class. Common sense is relational and well thought of, not a uniform body of knowing and from this point of view. Common sense means this diffuse of cultural practices we come across as racism someone saying something racist without meaning to say something racist. Everyone in the rooms are organized in the same way, example saying black people are bread to play basketball Can have the same common sense understanding and that is how it will manifest for you, Racism becomes part of everyday life, quite likely deep individuality. All of the things you like having, a particular type of hair, these are all part of leaving things out, omission. Not saying every individual in that space holds a particular view, when someone raises a question is when race will come into play that is the omission of common sense and silence being left out. Example “If I’m surprised a professors doesn’t wear glasses”, that’s a stereotype that all professors should wear glasses “Common sense is less articulated than stereotype it’s a lot easier to express and see than common sense.  Kadi mentions talking about the word stupid, it’s a beautiful interrogation.
