Who would not like to be a $205 million man? Possessing the skills to negotiate successfully can obtain what people need. Juwan Howard, the all star free agent, did just that when he successfully negotiated his contract to stay with the Washington Bullets. As a University of Michigan junior, Howard was the fifth player drafted in the summer of 1996. He established himself as a valuable player, and learned how to take part in the game of negotiation.
Juwan Howard negotiated with the Bullets for the first time in 1994 when he was offered the salary of $84 million dollars. Although he was solemn with the offer and wanted to stay with the Bullets, he held his ground and sought more from the Miami Heat. Juwan knew that he had given more than 100% both on and off the court and felt that he was worth much more.
