Description of Incident

Enclosed is a statement covering a late night robbery that occurred at our New Rochelle branch. On January 4th, 11:53pm Monday, an armed thief stole more than four hundred dollars. The very occurrence of the robbery was noticed the next day at 8:00am at the opening of the cash register.

After coming to know about the robbery, my team investigated what happened and how it happened exactly, technically our night shift employees are supposed to keep no more than one hundred dollars in cash in the register. As additional cash comes in, they are to deposit it into a tank safe, which cannot be opened until I come by the next day with the key.

Recommendation:

What I found out was the cashier on that particular day did not deposit the additional cash to the tank safe and kept storing the cash in the front cash register, hence there was more cash that there would be normally. I have personally spoken with Ashton Welder the cashier of that day and given him a proper warning, and he has promised me he wouldn’t repeat such a careless mistake in the future. As for future safety precautions I have requested our HR manager to provide us with two security guards.
