Reaching for the Sky
As a young adult, I always had a fear of interviews. Although I can handle a one on one conversation, it was the anxiety associated with interviews that typically rattled my nerves. For many years prior to interviews, my stress level would become so high that I would not eat until the process was completely over. I knew one day that I would have to go through the process again and then the opportunity came. The Administrative Assistant to the President put in her resignation. I applied for the position and was chosen as one of the top candidates. When I received the call about interviewing with the President, I immediately became nervous. This interview was important to my career and I knew I had to get past my fears of going through the interviewing process. The day came for the interview.
As usual prior to going to work, I went to the gym at 4:30 am prior to going to work. That particular morning, I felt the need to work out extra hard. Instead of running my standard three miles, I ran five miles. I increased my repetitions on the weight machines as well. Hoping that would relieve some of the tension that was on my shoulders that morning. I had made it up in my mind I was going to enjoy my workout and I did. At 6:00 am, I went to get dressed in the locker room. I took my time getting dressed inspecting that three button black suit I carefully picked out that night before. After giving myself the last check in the mirror, I was off to work.
When I had gotten into my car that morning, I did not want to even listen to the radio. I needed complete silence. The ride that normally takes 15 minutes with traffic felt like 30 minutes. The closer I had gotten to my job, the more my heart pounded with anticipation. I knew this was going to be a long

morning. Finally, the ride was over and I was safely parked into the parking deck. I grabbed my briefcase and my purse and headed into the building.
Entering into the suite, I immediately smelt the fresh coffee brewing. I went to my office to place my bags down and went straight to pour me a cup of coffee. A nice hot cup of Star Bucks
