A. Describing a Decision Making Situation:
- A decision made by a work team to select a new worker in an organization.
The supervisor is authorized to make the decision and determines that the support of the team members will be important for the success of any newly hired employee.
He/she will make the final decision but wants the groups input on the decision. He invites everyone in the team to meet with the potential candidates and gathers the team for the decision making process including the personnel department representative to this product team.

It’s under control of the decision maker which is in this case the supervisor.
It’s interactive and friendly because here the supervisor reminds the team that he/she wants their input and recommendations and will make the final decision taking into consideration what they say, which makes the employees feel motivated to say what on their mind and empowered.

Also the policies, procedures and technologies exist to achieve the goals (programmed), the supervisor passes the case to his /her team, gather their opinions and suggestions, consider them all and finally decide which candidate would be better for the position.
- Category of DSS required:
There are a variety of categories of DSS’s suitable for each problem, for this particular problem in my opinion, a group DSS would be the best choice because it has a prominent communication layer that may be absent in an individual DSS, especially there is team who has to work together and provide information to assist the supervisor in making the final decision in choosing the perfect employee.
