The art of being a critique is in its essence quality work, and it is the way of the world today. This is the requirement as well obligation for all researchers. If the research material they produce is of low quality and integrity, it is not worthy of reading. In this case, the literature on supply chain collaboration will undergo the same critical analysis. There are areas that will show if the research is of impeccable quality and value or if it is not. They will include the contribution of the paper to the research area.
The area of research is supply chain collaborations. The paper has clearly defined the research area stating Supply chain collaboration means two or more autonomous firms working jointly to plan and execute supply chain operations (Simatupang & Sridharan, 2002). This ensures that the reader gets to know firsthand before reading the material what they are reading. However, this is not a critical aspect of the research as the definition can be found on the glossary at the end of the research. It is also easy to understand what the title means by consulting a dictionary or continuing to read the material. Thus, this part of the paper can be under the provisional part or the others section.
The use of statistical methods is also presenting the research paper with, for example, the chi-square test. This is a favorable method for those analyzing data further. However, for those who are not conversant with this method fail to understand the diagrams. This leads to distortion of information that is vital to understand the research paper (Wayne 2008). The solution is drawing less complicated diagrams like just an ordinary table or drawing two diagrams with one a summary of the other.
There is the research question that states what the problem is; that the research paper addresses. This question is what the researcher will try to answer in conducting his/her research to find solutions. In this paper, the research question may be, “Why use Supply Chain Collaboration to impact on collaborative advantage and a firm’s performance?". The relevance of the research question includes its provision for the specification of the paper (Wayne 2008). This is because the question will help in obtaining the title of the research, that the paper will addresses in different aspects. The problem arises when the researcher forms a defective title that limits conducting the research. Thus, the title as well as the research question should be thought of in depth before settling on a specific one.
The scope of the research paper gets limitations from the research question. The question in stating the problem provides the area of concern to collect data for the research paper. The supply chain and collaboration paper, for example, will focus on this topic and specifically in firms and not in non-governmental or government organizations. In this case, the scope is the firm; however, in the collection of data the number will gain limitation. This is as the scope of the research stipulates the research to be within the boundary of the firm. Thus, the data collection methods may be accurate, but bias is likely to take place. This is because the interviews and interviewer are all in the same environment. If the interviewer decides the information he/she obtains does not conform according to him/her, he/she may alter this information. Thus, if possible, it is advisable for the interviewer to be from another firm to eradicate inaccurate results.
There is the literature review process, if the process is relevant and comprehensive or not. The research paper tries to stay relevant in all areas including the problem areas. The problem areas of the literature lie on the guidelines, the data collection methods and the method of conducting the research (Cooper 1998). All these areas are what shows if the paper has in its production come up with quality research. This ensures that the guidelines are evident and during the study, the review is comprehensive. The literature should be relevant and comprehensive in its composition. However, it has there is exclusion of some areas that are present in the supply chain collaboration. This is due to the fact those parts not being part of the advantages of the collaborative model corresponding to the firm. Thus, the relevant aspects of a research paper should be the only parts in the final draft.
The conceptual framework is one of the most significant areas of critique. It is like a map that takes a reader trough the steps the research follows (Wayne 2008). It defines and states the problem in a statement, in the form of a topic. This is the title of the paper; however, the problem is not present before the title in this research paper. Thus, the readers are to form mental question that they see the research paper resolving around or depending on the title. This may be highly difficult for some readers who have no background on research questions. Hence, if the paper were able to state the problem it would make these readers reading easier. The flow is not flawless it has some problems in the development of sections of the main topic.
